Would Be Trump Assassin Had Detonation Device on Him

Speaking at a U.S. House of Representatives hearing on Tuesday, Col. Christopher Paris, commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that Thomas Crooks had a detonation device on him when he attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump.

"We were aware of that very early on and that was a serious tactical consideration in the immediate aftermath as we worked that crime scene,"  Paris said.

Paris confirmed that Crooks had a detonation device and bombs in his car parked near the rally. He also confirmed that eight casings were recovered.

"Seems to me, a good theory would be that he was going to kill the president and then detonate his car, causing a diversion, and then escape from the crime scene."

Asked if he agreed with the decision to have no secret service agents on the roof where the shooter was and Paris said he did not agree with it.
