World Series Game #1

The Texas Rangers took game #1 of the World Series in walk-off fashion to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 in 11 innings.

Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the 9th the Rangers got a game tying 2 run homer from All-Star shortstop Corey Seager off Diamondbacks closer Paul Sewald to take it into extra innings.

Rangers right fielder Adolis Garcia belted a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th to give Texas the 1-0 series lead.

With the homer, Garcia set the all-time postseason record with his 22nd RBI. He was tied with St. Louis Cardinals David Freese at 21 which he set in 2011.

Garcia has also hit a home run in five consecutive postseason games. Hitting one more will tie him with David Murphy who holds the all-time record with a homer in six consecutive playoff games.

Garcia is also only the second player in MLB history to hit a walk-off home run in his World Series debut. He joins the New York Giants Dusty Rhodes who did it back in 1954.

With his fifth inning double, Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte tied the all-time postseason record with 17 consecutive games with a hit.

Game #2 is tonight at 8:03pm at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Arizona sends Merrill Kelly (2-1, 2.65) to the mound to face the Rangers' Jordan Montgomery (3-0, 2.16) as Texas looks to take a 2-0 series lead.
