WNBA Rookies Breaking Records

Two WNBA rookies have broken new league records in their debut season.

No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever in 2024 WNBA draft, Caitlin Clark set a new rookie record for the most assists in a season. After recording 9 more in last night’s win over the Seattle Storm, Clark is now at 232 in 28 games. Ticha Penicheiro set the original record in 1998 with 225 in 30 games.

Angel Reece, No. 7 overall pick by the Chicago Sky set a new record for the most double doubles in only 27 games. Reese scored 19 points and had 20 rebounds in last night’s loss to the Phoenix Mercury. Reese now has 20 double-doubles scored and is currently the fastest player to reach that milestone. She is on track, only needing 3 more double-doubles to break the WNBA rookie record set by Tina Charles in 2010. Reese is also only 3 double-doubles away from breaking the Sky’s franchise rookie record set by Sylvia Fowles in 2011.
