Strong winds and blizzard conditions, threats of flooding rains and tornadoes have over 1,800 flights cancelled nationwide and as the day goes on, there could be more.
Blizzard warnings have been issued for several states including Idaho, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.
A ground stop was issued for Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway International Airports, which accounts for about 1,000 of the total of cancellations.
Snowfall could exceed 12 inches in some areas of Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan, while other areas could receive 6-12 inches in those states and Indiana.
The storm is also bringing severe weather from Mississippi to North Carolina where damaging winds, heavy rains, hail and tornadoes are possible, including as far south as Florida.
There have been flood watches issued from North Carolina to Massachusetts where up to 3 inches of rain could fall in a short period of time.
Another storm is expected to sweep in right behind this storm, where there’s a potential of record-breaking cold blasts, and wind chill alerts.
