According to the National Interagency Fire Center, nearly 70 wildfires are burning
across the western states of the U.S. Several states such as California, Colorado,
Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington are facing air quality concerns and alerts.
More than 1.2 million acres have burned. States currently reporting large fires are
Arizona (9), California (12), Idaho (2), Montana (5), Nevada (1), New Mexico (5),
Oregon (24) and Utah (4).
California currently has a fire over 1,000-acre in the Riverside area, prompting more
than 1,500 homes to be evacuated.
Extremely dry conditions amid a heat wave along with winds are contributors to the
wildfires.
