At least four wildfires broke out over the weekend on eastern Long Island, New York. Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency and issued burn bans.
The fires were reported to have started on Saturday about 1 p.m. in Center Moriches, then spread to East Moriches, Pine Barrens and West Hamptons of Suffolk County.
About 600 acres burned and were fueled by low moisture, dry conditions and gusty winds.
The fire is 100% contained. No deaths are reported. Two firefighters were injured, but were released from the hospital. The fires are under investigation.
