NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West has passed away at the age of 86.
Nicknamed "Mr. Clutch" for his late game heroics, West was inducted into the Hall of Fame twice, with a third on the way. He was selected once as a player, once as an executive, and later this year will mark a third time he's enshrined, when he's inducted as a contributor.
West's silhouette is considered to be the basis for the NBA logo.
"He helped build eight championship teams during his tenure in the NBA - a legacy of achievement that mirrors his on-court excellence. And he will be enshrined this October into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor, becoming the first player ever inducted as both a player and a contributor. I valued my friendship with Jerry and the knowledge he shared with me over many years about basketball and life," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said.
