By the end of 2024, popular fast food chain, Wendy’s will be closing 140 locations. Many of the locations are “outdated and located in underperforming areas” and are “well below the system average” financially. Typically, Wendy’s financial status is above a yearly average of $1 million.
Wendy’s President and CEO Kirk Tanner said the closures are spread out across the country and particular areas are not targeted.
Tanner also added that even though several restaurants are closing, the company would be replacing many of them “in better locations with significantly improved sales and profitability.”
The new locations being built will have enhanced technology, updated kitchen appliances, new pick-up windows and spruced up interior.
