Wells Making Franchise History

When Austin Wells leads off the bottom of the first at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Thursday for Opening Day, he will be making franchise history.

Wells will be the first New York Yankees catcher to bat leadoff during a regular season game.

On the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said...

"I think you can expect Austin in there, certainly Opening Day... In the past, it's always like, well, you gotta have the speed guy first. I don't know if that makes much sense. I want the guy that gets on base the best hitting first."

Over 115 games last season, Wells hit .229 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI's.
