Walmart Cutting Corporate Jobs

Walmart announced yesterday that it would cut hundreds of jobs at corporate headquarters and relocate the majority of its U.S. and Canadian based remote employees back to offices.

Walmart said most of the relocations will be sent to their headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, and others would be transferred to the offices in San Francisco Bay area, or Hoboken, New Jersey.

Donna Morris, Walmart’s chief people officer wrote in a memo on Tuesday, “We are asking the majority of associates working remotely, and the majority of associates within our offices in Dallas, Atlanta and our Toronto Global Tech office, to relocate.” Morris added in the memo that Walmart’s goal in doing this is to bring more people together more often, but also to strengthen Walmart’s culture and develop the careers of its employees.

Associates have until July 1 to decide if they are going to relocate, or quit with 2 weeks of severance pay. The company said it would also work with employees on the next steps needed for their future.
