The prodigal son returns...
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed first baseman Joey Votto to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
If Votto makes the big league roster the deal will be worth $2 million with an additional $2 million in performance incentives.
Votto has played his entire 17 year career with the Cincinnati Reds and became a free agent for the first time in his career this offseason.
He hopes to make it back to the majors with his hometown team. Votto grew up in Etobicoke, a suburb outside Toronto and still lives in the city.
