According to the Washington Post and The Associated Press, Susanna Gibson, a Democrat, first-time candidate running for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates is said to have sex and engage in other sex acts with her husband through live streaming on a pornographic website, Chaturbate. Gibson is heard urging and asking viewers to donate “tips” or “digital tokens” to her account on the website that could be cashed in. Gibson said in a statement, “It won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me.” Gibson said whoever exposed the online content committed a sex crime. She also stated the exposure of the videos were “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family.” Gibson says she has no plans to quit the race.
