U.S. Forces On Red Alert In The Middle East

U.S. Navy ships are being re-directed and more U.S. forces are on high alert. Pentagon officials are saying Iran backed militias are intensifying their attacks on U.S. forces.

Over the past several days, the U.S. military has intercepted missiles heading toward American positions in Iraq and Syria. The USS Carney downed 15 drones and 4 cruise missiles that were fired by Iran-backed Houthis fired from Yemen, some of which were aimed at U.S. forces.

Senior U.S. Defense Official said, “We see a prospect for much more significant escalation against U.S. forces and personnel in the near term. And let’s be clear about it; the road leads back to Iran. Iran funds, arms, equips and trains militias and proxy forces all across the region that have consistently undermined the stability cost in civilian life…”

The U.S. military said they have 900 troops in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is sending more missile defense systems to the region. The USS Eisenhower is sailing toward the Persian Gulf. The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, known as “America’s 911 force,” is also on standby with 2,000 sailors and marines.
