Two female politicians are shot dead since Mexico elected their first woman president, Claudia Sheinbaum, last week.
Yolanda Sánchez Figueroa, Mayor of the town Cotija, Michoacán, Mexico, and her security guard were shot just hours after Sheinbaum won the presidency.
Then days later, on Friday, Esmeralda Garzon, councilwoman in Tixtla, was shot and killed while leaving her home.
Reports of up to 30 of candidates have been killed during this election, making it the most violent elections in modern day Mexican history.
