President-elect Donald Trump names Pete Hegseth, 44, as his Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth is an Army National Guard veteran, who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, is a Fox News host and has been a military advocate.
Hegseth began his military career at Princeton, where he was in the Army ROTC program, then served at Guantanamo Bay.
Hegseth was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman Badge for his service overseas.
Trump described Hegseth as “tough, smart and a true believer of America First.” He added, “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down.”
