Tropical Storm Sara Soaks Honduras

Tropical Storm Sara stalled over Honduras, soaking it with more 40 inches of rainfall in some locations, causing extreme mudslides and floods, which collapsed 5 bridges leaving over 145 communities of tens of thousands of people stranded and caused at least one death. Sara had maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

Sara also left up to 15 inches of rain in portions of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Sara has since dissipated as it moved toward Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

Sara is forecasted to move into the Gulf of Mexico and head toward Florida’s Gulf Coast and Panhandle, leaving tropical depression strength winds, rain and the possibility of tornados on late Tuesday and lasting into Wednesday.
