Hurricane Rafael continues to strengthen as it moves through the western Caribbean and is forecasted to make landfall in Cuba as possibly a category 3 hurricane later Wednesday.
With maximum winds currently at 110 mph, Rafael is a category 2 making its way northwestward through the Cayman Islands and is about 60 miles east-southeast of Isle of Youth.
Rafael’s track has shifted west and isn’t expected to have any major impacts on Florida’s Gulf Coast except scattered showers and/or thunderstorms along with breezy conditions.
The Lower and Middle Florida Keys still remain in a Tropical Storm warning.
Rafael is expected to weaken once it moves west into the Gulf of Mexico, and could possibly even dissipate by the weekend or early next week.
