TikTok’s Sunscreen Distortion

Health experts are concerned with misinformation being spread by social media influencers about using sunscreen and sun exposure.

The latest trends on social media platform TikTok, has people saying you shouldn’t wear sunscreen. One video was liked 36 million times.

Another post, seen by millions was the message that people spending more time in the sun, are less likely to get sunburned.

There has been proven research that UV radiation from the sun is linked with skin cancer.

Doctors recommend for the best protection, use a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher, apply the sunscreen 15 to 20 minutes before going outside, and try not to miss any spots of your skin that will be exposed to the sun.
