More info out on the cause of death for the Hackman family.

Hackman’s wife Betsy died due to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, which is transmitted from animals to humans and is commonly found in rodents. This disease starts with flu-like symptoms consisting of fever, muscle aches, cough, and can sometimes vomit or have diarrhea that can then progress to shortness of breath and cardiac or heart and lung failure.
The Hackman family dog Zinfandel, likely died from dehydration and starvation. The 12-year-old Australian Kelpie mix’s stomach was mostly empty, with the exception of “small amounts of hair and bile.” There was no evidence of infectious disease, trauma or poisoning.
