Texas Wildfires Take Another Life

The wildfires raging through Texas’ panhandle have taken another life. Cindy Owen, 44, is the second person to perish in the fires. Two firefighters have been treated for minor injuries.

The fire is about 15% contained due to some relief from lighter winds and precipitation yesterday, but drier air, higher temperatures and winds are expected to return through the weekend.

North Plains Electric Cooperative said there’s “approximately 115 miles of line to rebuild.”

Homes, businesses, wildlife, crops, over 1 million acres of land and livestock have been lost.

At this time, 40% of the fires have been contained in Oklahoma, where the fires have spread.
