Tesla Recall Due to Hood Issue

More than 1.8 million Tesla’s are being recalled due to a software issue, which may not detect an unlatched hood. The hood could become unlatched and fully open when the vehicle is in motion causing an obstructed view for the driver and increase the risk of a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the recall is on some 2021-2024 Model 3, Model S, Model X and 2020-2024 Model Y vehicles.

Tesla will send notification letters through the mail to vehicle owners on September 22 and the software update is free of charge. Owners will not need physical repairs.

Owners of the recalled models can reach out to Tesla’s customer service for more information at 1-877-798-3752 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or www.nhtsa.gov.
