Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder of Slovakian Prime Minister

A 71-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday. The man hasn’t formally been named yet, but Slovak reports say he is from the town of Levice. He is believed to be acting as a “lone wolf,” who isn’t affiliated with any political groups.

Fico, 59-years-old was gravely hurt, has undergone surgery, and is listed in serious, but stable condition after being shot at least five times at close range. Fico was hit in the stomach and arm.

Fico was attending a political event in broad daylight and this attempt took his security by complete surprise. The suspect could face life in prison.
