Supermoon and Partial Lunar Eclipse Tonight

Stargazers delight tonight: September’s full moon, known, as the Harvest moon will coincide with a partial lunar eclipse. Not only will the moon be full, but also, it will be at the closest point to the Earth in its orbit, making it a supermoon. The supermoon will appear to be bigger and brighter than an ordinary full moon.

The partial lunar eclipse will begin September 17th at 8:41 p.m. ET and will peak about 10:30-10:45 p.m. ET.

If clear conditions are in effect, watching a lunar eclipse can be viewed safely without protective eyewear.
