State of Emergency in South Florida Flooding

Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency after southern parts of the state saw heavy rainfall and flooding in the past couple of days, with more on the way.

Five counties including Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade and Sarasota received between 10 – 15 inches of rain, causing massive floods. Many of the counties are encouraging people to remain inside if possible.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport saw delays and/or cancellations, and more are expected to continue through the end of this week.

More than 8 million people are under flood alerts and another 4 to 8 inches is expected through Friday, with the possibility of some areas getting close to a foot of rain.
