Sound of Freedom has record 4th

Opening on the 4th of July The Sound of Freedom grossed over $14 million dollars in its first day. Pre-release projections had it bringing in $11-$15 million over the first 6 days. It topped Disney's Indiana Jones which brought in $11.5 million according to Deadline.

The movie is based on the true story of former government agent Tim Ballard, who quit his job in order to avoid the bureaucracy associated with going over seas to rescue children from human traffickers and pedophiles. He founded Operation Underground Railroad which fights against human trafficking at home and abroad and the movie is based on its beginnings. It tells the story of him rescuing two children and a group of over 50 others. Ballard and his team saved 123 people, 55 of them were children in the real life mission the movie covers.

The movie is distributed by Angel Studios. Neil Harmon its CEO said "This movie has now taken on a life of its own to become something more than that, a grassroots movement. We're the top-rated movie in America and we're going to see word-of-mouth spread even further going into the weekend. The world needs to see Sound of Freedom, and we know that our biggest competitive advantage - our incredible fans and investors - are going to make sure that happens."

Actor Jim Caviezel who plays Ballard in the movie appears at the end of the film with a message. He starts by saying the film was made several years ago, but had many roadblocks put in its way by others. He also addresses the crimes and horrors of the sea trafficking industry. He closes urging the audience to scan the QR code which will help pay for others, who otherwise would not be able to see it, to get tickets. In many interviews he states Hollywood did not want this movie made & struggled to find Studios who would distribute it until Angel Studios stepped up. It was still a battle getting it into theaters.
