Sixth Grader Dies In Iowa School Shooting

Thursday, at 7:37 a.m., just before school began on the first day after winter, a 17-year-old student at Perry High School, Iowa, opened fire killing 1 sixth grader and injuring 5 others.

Officials said the gunman, Dylan Butler died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Butler was armed with a small-caliber handgun, a pump-action shotgun, and an “improvised explosive device”, which was later deemed safe by the fire marshal.


Officials added there was evidence that Butler acted alone.


The survivors of the shooting are expected to survive.
