The search continues in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student.
Sudiksha Konanki, a junior, on spring break, was last seen on hotel surveillance video on Thursday, March 6 at 4:15 a.m. with a group of friends heading toward the beach. The group of friends went back to the Riu Republica Resort while Konanki is said to have stayed on the beach with a male.
Konanki was officially reported missing at 4 p.m. Thursday. Authorities are using security camera footage along with Konanki’s and her friends’ cellphone data to try to create a digital footprint.
The Konanki family resides in Virginia (Loudoun County) and has dual citizenship in India.
Konanki is 5’3, has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown bikini, round earrings, an ankle bracelet along with several bracelets on her wrist.
The Dominican Air Force and Navy are assisting the National Police and other rescue agencies, including several drone teams. It is speculated Konanki may have drowned, but investigations are continuing and will clarify if this is something accidental or if foul play is involved.
