NASA has discovered the oldest black hole ever to exist. The black hole is said to have formed 470 million years after the Big Bang. It is said the age of the black hole is at 13.2 billion years and is 10 times bigger than the black hole in our Milky Way and is growing. It is also believed to weigh anywhere from 10% - 100% the mass of all the stars in the galaxy.
Scientists used the James Webb Space Telescope and the Chandra X-Ray Observatory for their research.
Researchers believe the black hole formed from colossal clouds of gas that collapsed in the galaxy next to one with stars; the two galaxies merged, and the black hole took over. The studies authors/researchers also believe this discovery may help them piece together how some of the first super massive black holes formed in the universe.
