Ripple Effects from Microsoft Outage

The ripple effects from the largest global tech outage in history on Friday are still lingering on and cybercriminals are taking advantage by creating fake websites with malicious software.

The faulty Microsoft update from cyber security company, CrowdStrike, caused 1,500 cancelled flights, 8,500 flight delays, and impacted hospitals, banks and 8.5 million Windows devices.

Delta airlines extended their flight cancellations for unaccompanied minors until at least Wednesday.

Fraudulent sites are trying to lure victims by using keywords such as “CrowdStrike” and “quick fix,” to name a couple. Hackers are also impersonating CrowdStrike employees with scam phone calls and emails, and selling fake software that will “fix the glitch.”

Be sure to communicate with CrowdStrike representatives only through their official channels and their support teams.
