Upon the identification process, the assumed body of hostage mother, Shiri Bibas, was not hers. The body returned hasn’t been identified yet but isn’t a match to any of the other hostages.
The bodies of the two Bibas children and Oded Lifshitz, an 84-year old man, have been confirmed.
Although it wasn’t specified how they came to the conclusion, the Israeli military said their forensic testing proved the hostages were murdered by Hamas, not killed by an Israeli airstrike as Hamas originally claimed.
Israeli military said by sending the wrong body, “This is a violation of utmost severity by the Hamas terrorist organization.”
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, said, “We will act resolutely to bring Shiri home, along with all our hostages – both living and the fallen.”
