On Wednesday, the NFL and Nielsen released the ratings for week 1 and it was one for the record books.
The NFL saw a record average 21 million viewers per game, making it the most watched week No. 1 in history. Between television and digital platforms, there was a 12% increase in viewership over last year. 123 million saw at least part of a game.
NFL Media executive vice president Hans Schroeder said...
"A great start with the viewership. It was great to be back and a lot to be excited about. I think the numbers even exceeded our expectations. Brazil was great and the game was an exciting one. On a new night and window, I think that was a phenomenal start for us."
