Rapper 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) took to Instagram to posting: “WTF mayor Adams call my phone, I don’t understand how this works (shrug emoji) somebody explain. @arimelber can’t explain this I’m stuck maybe TRUMP is the answer (hand to head emoji).”
The rapper posted after hearing about Mayor Adams’ plan to distribute $53 million to migrants on pre-paid credit cards intended to help them pay for food and baby supplies while they are waiting for authorization to work. Cards would work in grocery stores, supermarkets, convenience stores and bodegas and recipients must sign a pledge they will use the pre-paid card only on food and baby supplies, or they could be expelled from the program.
A family of four could receive $1,000 monthly, or $35 a day, and cards will be refilled every 28 days, for food and baby supplies. This program is for asylum seekers currently staying at the Roosevelt Hotel and will start with 500 families.
