Pat Sajak’s Final Episode of ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Longtime game show host of Wheel of Fortune, Pat Sajak will say goodbye on his final episode airing tonight, June 7, 2024.

Sajak has been the host of Wheel of Fortune, since 1981 when the show aired on daytime television. For 41 years and over 8,000 episodes, Sajak has been telling contestants to “spin the wheel.”

Sajak announced his retirement a year ago, with Ryan Seacrest set to succeed him. Co-host and letter-turner Vanna White is contracted to remain on the show through the 2025-2026 season along side Seacrest.

“I’ve always felt that the privilege came with a responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun. No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope. Just a game. But gradually it became more than that: a place where kids learn their letters, where people from other countries hone their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors and entire generation,” Sajak said. “What an honor to have played even a small part in all that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

Sajak also said, “Somewhere along the line, we became more than a popular show. We became part of a popular culture, and more importantly, we became a part of people’s lives… That’s been awfully gratifying.”
