Outdoor Sleeping Bill On DeSantis’ Desk

Tuesday, Florida Senate voted 27-12 in favor of House Bill 1365, which would ban cities and counties for letting people sleep in public buildings, parks, and public right of ways and properties.

The goal of the bill is said to provide homeless with more shelters and give them a better place to sleep instead of the streets and public areas. The designated areas would have restroom access, running water and a ban on drugs and alcohol. It is also attempting to keep Florida safer and cleaner.

Governor DeSantis has until March 27 to sign the bill, and if he does, the new law will take effect October 1.
