On This Day In History

On March 24, 1989, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spilled an estimated 11 million gallons of oil after striking the Bligh Reef in Prince William Sound in southern Alaska. This was one of the largest oil spills in the U.S. that polluted more than 700 miles of coastline and affected hundreds of thousands of birds and animals.
