On This Day In History

On July 2, 1937, American aviator Amelia Earhart, along with navigator Frederick Noonan, was reported missing near Howland Island in the Pacific. The two were attempting to fly around the world when they lost their bearings in the Lockheed aircraft. Earhart was in sporadic contact with the U.S. Coast Guard and it is said they received messages that she was lost and running low on fuel. Until today, there has been no trace of Earhart or Noonan.
