On June 20, 1975, classic suspense and thriller movie Jaws was released in theaters. Now-famed director Steven Spielberg made his directing debut on a budget under $9 million. The movie went on to be an instant blockbuster earning over $470 million in global returns. Jaws went on to win three Oscars including, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Sound. It was nominated for Best Picture but lost out to The Godfather Part II.
