On This Day In History

On June 18, 1983, Dr. Sally Ride became the first American woman to travel into space. Ride was on board the Challenger space shuttle. Ride, started with NASA as an on-the-ground capsule communicator (CAPCOM) for two missions before the announcement that she’d be a missions specialist heading into space for 6 days.
