On This Day In History

On May 29, 1848, Wisconsin enters the Union as the 30th state. Wisconsin was for the longest time against statehood, voting against it four times prior, but by 1848, citizens grew envious of the federal programs neighboring states were receiving, thus voting in favor of statehood.
