On This Day In History

On May 21, 1881, Clara Barton and Adolphus Solomons founded the American Red Cross. The organization was established to aid victims in natural disasters and wars. 


Barton was the head of the organization until she died in 1912; she was in her 80’s. Solomons was Barton’s vice president for 12 years.
