On This Day In History

On May 17, 1954, the famous civil rights case: Brown vs. Board of Education ended in victory. The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that racial segregation in public educational facilities is unconstitutional.

The case dealt with an African American girl, Linda Brown being denied admission to her elementary school in Topeka, Kansas, due to the color of her skin.

This historical decision by the Supreme Court brought an end to federal tolerance of racial segregation.
