On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. King faced a fatal gun shot while standing on the balcony of his second-story room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. Fingerprints on the Remington .30-06 hunting rifle found on the sidewalk a block away from the scene, led to murderer James Earl Ray.
