On This Day In History

On March 25, 1634, the first colonists arrived at St. Clement’s Island in Maryland. The English settlers left aboard the Ark and the Dove on November 22, 1633. The city of St. Mary's was the first colonial capital of Maryland, and was named in honor of King Charles I’s wife, queen Henrietta Maria.
