On February 6, 1952, Princess Elizabeth becomes queen. After her father, King George VI, suffered a long illness, he passed in his sleep. Elizabeth was the oldest of the king’s daughters, making her the next in line to succeed him. Queen Elizabeth II was officially crowned at the age of 27 and reigned over the United Kingdom until her death on September 8, 2022. Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch in British history.
