On December 17, 1903, the first self-propelled airplane flew for the first time. Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright began inventing aircrafts with gliders until they perfected the first aircraft. On its inaugural flight, near Kitty Hawk, NC, Orville piloted a gas-powered, propeller-driven biplane that stayed in the air for 12 seconds and covered 120 feet.
