On This Day In History

On December 9, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas aired on national television for the first time on CBS. The 30-minute animated cartoon is based on Charles Schulz’s newspaper comic strip, ‘Peanuts.’ CBS executives originally rejected the special and thought animated shows couldn’t succeed in prime time, but took the gamble. It turns out that 15 million households tuned in that night and the cartoon has since become a classic. A Charlie Brown Christmas can be streamed on Apple TV+ on December 14th and 15th.
