On October 4, 1927, sculpting begins on Mount Rushmore. It would take another 12 years for the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt to be completed on the granite mountainside. Mount Rushmore is located in the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota.
