Along with her 20-year-old son Richard Rogers, the Texas-born entrepreneur took her life savings of $5,000 and began the company. Mary Kay is now one of the world’s largest direct sellers of skin care and cosmetic products. The Mary Kay empire is a multi-billion-dollar company and has been for several years.
