On This Day In History

On September 12, 1992, Peace Corp physician, Dr. Mae Jemison, 35, became the first African American woman to go into space. Jemison was one of seven astronauts on the space shuttle Endeavor on an eight-day mission. Jemison conducted experiments including motion sickness, bone loss and weightlessness.
