On This Day In History

On August 19, 1909, what is now the most famous motor racing competition, The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, held its first race.  Local businessman, Carl Fisher (and partners) designed the speedway on 328 acres of farmland as a testing facility for Indiana’s growing automobile industry.
